Hobie Hedquist split his first two starts of the season for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey League. Hedquist and the Bulldogs won in a shootout at home Friday before losing on the road Saturday.
Alberni Valley won 3-2 over the Victoria Grizzlies in its regular-season opener Friday.
The Heron Lake native he stopped all five Victoria shooters in the skills session to earn second star honors on the night.

On Saturday, Hedquist made 24 stops in a 3-1 loss to the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The Bulldogs play at Cowichan Valley again next Friday and then host the Powell River Kings on Saturday.
