Jackson County Central and Martin County West both have 2-0 records to start the football season after road wins Friday night.
The Huskies were 24-0 winners at Luverne, while the Mavericks won at Sleepy Eye 14-6.
JCC’s defense limited the Cardinals to only 81 yards offense (63 rushing and 18 passing) and put the game’s first points on the board on a 20-yard Pick Six by Brenan Runge.
The Huskies had 207 yards on the ground 79 in the air for 286 yards.
Roman Voss scored from two yards out and Gabe Wolff from six yards out for the JCC touchdowns.
Alvaro Gonzalez Garcia was 3-for-3 on extra point attempts and also kicked a 25-yard field goal.
MCW’s defense held Sleepy Eye out of the end zone. The Indians’ only points came on a 92-yard fumble return for a TD midway through the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks had a 14-0 lead prior to that.
Carver Rohman scored from one yard out in the first quarter and threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Jamesson Forsberg in the second. Wyatt Williamson kicked the PAT after both scores.
Jackson County Central has its first home game next Friday, hosting Blue Earth Area at 7 p.m. at Swearingen Field while Martin County West is at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers for an 8 p.m. game.
