Martin County West heads to Mountain Lake Tuesday to play Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey in the semifinals of the Section 2A South Sub-Section girls basketball tournament. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
The sixth-seeded Mavericks opened the tournament with a 71-26 win over 11th-seeded Madelia Friday in Trimont. The third-seeded Wolverines will be playing their first postseason game.
MCW has an 11-15 record, while MLAC is 16-9. The Wolverines defeated the Mavericks 56-50 in Mountain Lake on Feb. 17.
Tuesday’s winner advances to the sub-section semifinals Thursday at St. Peter High School against the winner of the game between second-seeded Sleepy Eye (20-6) and seventh-seeded Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (13-14).
The sub-section championship game is next Monday at Gustavus.
