
Jackson County Central’s hitters scored 37 runs, and five Huskies pitchers struck out 31 opposing batters in 18 innings as JCC went 3-0 at its own softball tournament Saturday.
The Huskies defeated Worthington 15-3 in six innings, New York Mills 10-3 and Zumbrota-Mazeppa 12-2 in five innings to move their record to 16-2.

Brielle Tufvesson had two hits, and three runs batted in for the Huskies. Mady Wachal, Hadley Wachal and Clara Brinks each drove in two.
Hadley Wachal went the distance to record the pitching win as she allowed one earned run and struck out 11.
Tufvesson had three more hits against New York Mills, with Kinley VanDeVere and Mady Wachal each collecting two.
Mady Wachal pitched the first six innings and struck out 11. CJ Pauling pitched the final inning.
Brielle Mouw and Kelcie Sillman combined to hold Z-M without a hit. Mouw fanned four in three innings and Kelcie Sillman struck out five in three innings.
JCC used five pitchers on the day, two juniors, two sophomores and an eighth grader.
Tufvesson had two doubles to give her seven hits for the day. Hadley Wachal also doubled twice.
Bailey Finck belted a three-run home run, while VanDeVere and Braelyn Boogerd each had a triple.
Jackson County Central, which was tied for ninth in last week’s Class 2A ratings, has two regular-season games remaining.
The Huskies have a 5:30 p.m. game at Fairmont Tuesday and host Class 1A 10th-ranked Wabasso at 5 p.m. Thursday. That time for the game vs. the Rabbits is a schedule change.
