Three Jackson Bulls pitchers will be on rosters for the state Class C amateur baseball tournament that starts Friday.
All-time Bulls wins leader Ryan Rasche was a draftee of the Windom for the Region 13C tournament and the Pirates qualified for the state tournament by beating Hadley 1-0 in Game 3 of the Third-Place Series Sunday at Windom.
Then, Gavin Jacobsen and Ben Scheevel were drafted for the state tourney by Luverne, which had won the Championship Series on Friday.
Rasche was the winning pitcher for Windom in Game One of its series with Hadley, pitching 5 innings of shutout relief, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 5. He also pitched in relief in Game Two.
The Pirates will play the Region 8C runner-up Sobieski Skis in the first round of the state tournament at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Waconia.
Rasche is on a state tournament team for the eighth time.
Jackson qualified for the state tourney in 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2018. Also, he has been in the state tourney as a draftee of Wilmont (2013), Fairmont (2015), Milroy Irish (2017) and Windom this year.
Jacobsen was drafted by Hadley for the region tourney and now will be joining Luverne for the state tournament. He pitched 4.2 innings for the Buttermakers Saturday vs. Windom, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walked 3 and struck out 7. Hadley had been to the state tournament six straight years.
Scheevel will be making his third trip to the state tourney. He went with Jackson in 2018 and was also drafted by Luverne for the 2019 state tourney.
The Redbirds have a first-round bye. They'll play at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 in Chaska vs. the winner of this Sunday's game between Eagle Lake and Cannon Falls. The Expos and Bears play at 11 a.m. this Sunday at Chaska.
The other Region 13C team in the state tournament is the Milroy Irish, who will play the Maple Lake Lakers at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hamburg.
