It was a relatively quiet night for Hobie Hedquist Saturday as he was the winning goal for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs Junior A Hockey Club in its 4-1 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals in a British Columbia Hockey League game at the Multiplex in Port Alberni.
The Heron Lake native stopped 23 of 24 shots he faced and earned Second Star of the game.
Hedquist now has 50 career wins as Bulldog. That’s second on the team’s all-time list. The record is 53 wins.
For the season, Hedquist has played 2,007 minutes in 34 games, has a 22-10-2 record including two shutouts with a save percentage of .913 and goals against average of 2.78.
A University of North Dakota commit, Hedquist ranks fourth in the BCHL in wins and minutes, fifth in games played, sixth in shutouts, seventh in GAA, and ninth in save percentage.
The Bulldogs have an overall record of 25-17-3-1 and are in third place in the BCHL’s Coastal Division with 54 points, two ahead of the fourth-place Coquitlam Express.
AV is idle until hosting Cowichan Valley again next Saturday.
