After a two-year hiatus, the JCC eighth-grade boys basketball team put a unit back together to compete in a couple of recent tournaments.
The young Huskies won the Turkey Trot tourney in Worthington on March 19, winning three games, including beating a very good Orange City team in the championship game.
The Huskies then finished 4-0 to win the Pacesetter Regional tournament Saturday in Redwood Falls, earning a berth in this summer’s state Pacesetter tournament.
At the regional, JCC beat Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 59-20, Minnesota Valley Lutheran 62-36, Springfield 62-32 and New Ulm 62-41 to win the regional title.
With the win, JCC earns a spot in the Pacesetter state tournament which will be held in June.
This group of Huskies won both the Pacesetter state tournament and the 5-state Great State tournaments in 2018 and 2019 as fourth and fifth graders before taking the last two years off.
Dating to third grade, this group has now compiled an overall record of 124-4.
The Huskies are coached by Shawn Foster, Nic Rowe and Ed Gallagher.
