The Jackson County Central football team won its home opener Friday, while Martin County West lost on the road.
Also, some local grads were in action on college volleyball courts Friday and anytime of year is a good time to talk about wrestling around JCC.
JCC football
Jackson County Central’s offense scored seven touchdowns, and the defense added two more as the Huskies rolled past Worthington 62-7 Friday night at Swearingen Field.
Roman Voss figured in five of JCC’s touchdowns. He ran for three TDs (9, 63 and 71 yards) and threw for two more (5 yards to Grant Freking and 71 to Ben Dahlin).

JCC is 2-0 and will play at Blue Earth Area next Friday. The Buccaneers are 0-2 after a 60-14 loss to Triton (2-0) Friday.

Double figures for Sadie
While her brother was putting up some big numbers back home, JCC graduate Sadie Voss was collecting some impressive stats of her own for the University of Sioux Falls volleyball team in Kansas City.
Sadie, a 5-foot-9 junior outside hitter, has recorded double figures in kills in all three matches to start the season for the Cougars.
On Friday, she had 17 kills in a 3-1 win over William Jewell and also had 16 in a 3-1 loss to Emporia State. In the season opener Thursday, she had 13 kills in a 3-1 loss to Washburn. USF concludes the tourney with a match vs. Rockhurst on Saturday.
USD battles Louisville
Sadie’s cousin, Alaina Wolff, also a JCC grad, is a 5-6 defensive specialist for South Dakota, which lost 3-1 to No. 4 Louisville Friday in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
The Coyotes (2-1) play host Northern Kentucky Saturday and Missouri Sunday.
