
Jackson County Central won at home and Martin County West was edged on the road in high school football Friday night.
Also, the JCC volleyball team went 1-1 on the first day of a two-day tournament, and we have a few college volleyball notes.
JCC football
JCC recorded its season-high point total as the Huskies moved their record to 6-0 with a 64-8 home win over Minnesota Valley Lutheran.
Roman Voss threw three touchdown passes, caught another pass for a TD and also had a rushing touchdown.
Voss threw two TD passes to Ben Dahlin from 34 and 5 yards and threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Grant Freking. The junior also caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Evan Brtholomaus and ran 22 yards for a score.
Dahlin scored a third TD on a 76-yard run. Gage Johnson scored two touchdowns, from 39 and 5 yards; and Clay Malchow scored on a 4-yard run.
JCC meets another 6-0 team Thursday when it travels to Luverne. The Cardinals remained undefeated with a 6-0 overtime win at Pipestone Friday.

MCW football
Martin County West is 3-3 after a 36-30 road loss to Sleepy Eye United.
Maddex Faber was 16-for-21 passing for 289 yards and four touchdowns. Three scoring passes went to Jacob Wilmes and the other to Cameron Kascht.
Wilmes caught five passes for 100 yards. He also made nine tackles.
The Mavericks host Class 1A No. 2 Springfield on Thursday.
JCC volleyball
The Jackson County Central volleyball team played a pair of three-set matches in going 1-1 in its pool Friday on the opening day of the Twin Cities Challenge volleyball tournament being played at two sites.
Playing at Eastview High School, the Huskies opened with a 2-1 win over Mille Lacs (17-25, 25-19, 15-9). Eastview then defeated JCC 2-1 (25-16, 22-25, 15-12).
The Huskies will move to Burnsville High School to play Bethlehem Academy in the first round of the eight-team Silver Bracket at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. All teams will play three more matches.

College volleyball
A few college volleyball notes:
Jackson County Central graduate Sadie Voss had 5 kills and 15 digs for the University of Sioux Falls in a 3-1 NSIC loss at No. 8 St. Cloud State.
JCC grad Emma Haren posted six kills for Morningside in a 3-1 win over Mount Marty.
Another Jackson County Central graduate, Alicia Brandt, recorded 5 blocks and 3 kills for Waldorf in a 3-0 loss to Concordia (Neb.).
