
Jackson County Central and Martin County West were both winners in football, two former Huskies reached double figures in a statistical category on a college volleyball court and Sadie Hotzler qualified for the Junior World Finals in a third event on Friday.
At Swearingen Field in Jackson, the Class 2A fourth-ranked JCC football team scored 40 points in the first 9 minutes and 25 seconds of the game and went on to a 61-14 homecoming win over Le Sueur-Henderson.
Clay Malchow scored three touchdowns for the Huskies via three different methods. He scored on a nine-yard run, returned a punt 87 yards and caught a screen pass and went 71 yards for a score.
Homecoming King Ben Dahlin had a pair of long TD runs, coming on plays of 67 and 51 yards.
Also, Roman Voss ran 57 yards for a touchdown on the game’s first play, Isaac Hesebeck returned an interception 80 yards for a TD and Tavion Diggs scored from eight yards out.
MCW was a 26-12 winner on the road over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.
Berent Kosbab rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on nine carries and caught four passes for 14 yards. Maddex Faber was 10-for-14 passing for 72 yards and a TD.
Faber, Jacob Wilmes and Pierce Rohman had four tackles apiece.

College volleyball
A pair of JCC grads reached double figures Friday night.
At Aberdeen, Sadie Voss had 12 kills for the University of Sioux Falls in a 3-1 loss to Northern State in the Cougars’ NSIC opener. USF is at Winona State Tuesday.
In Coralville, Iowa, Alaina Wolff had 11 digs for South Dakota in a 3-1 win over Drake. The Coyotes play Saint Louis Saturday.
World qualifier
Sadie Hotzler of Jackson qualified for the Junior World Finals Rodeo in a third event Friday in Humboldt, Tenn.
Sadie qualified in Breakaway for the JWF, which will be held in December in Las Vegas. She had previously qualified in Barrels and Pole Bending.
