Jackson County Central’s basketball teams had mixed results on Friday as the girls were winners at home while the boys dropped a game on the road.
The girls claimed their fifth straight win with a 64-44 home victory over Waseca. Rylie Cother scored 23 points and Kylee Wenzel 18.
JCC’s boys lost in Waseca 68-64. Roman Voss scored 25 points and Weston Rowe 20.
In Valley Conference boys basketball, Martin County West topped Madelia 80-76 in overtime in Trimont. Jacob Wilmes had a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds.
Windom Area’s hockey teams split nonconference games with Morris/Benson Area at Windom Arena with the Eagles winning the girls game 5-2 as Marenna Bang and Mataya Hall scored two goals apiece.
The Storm won the boys game 6-3.
Also Friday, some Martin County West graduates came up with some big wins for their teams.
At the "Battle of the Burgs" in Minneapolis, Blake Jagodzinske was a winner for Augsburg in its 20-19 win over Wartburg. Jagodzinske, rated fifth at 157 pounds in NCAA Division III, won a 5-2 decision over No. 9 Daniel Meeker of Wartburg.
In an NSIC dual, a pair of former Martin County Red Bulls were winners for No. 14 Augustana in its 24-12 win over No. 13 University of Mary in Bismarck.
No. 2 Jaxson Rohman won an 11-2 major decision at 125 pounds and Connor Simmonds was a 4-1 winner at 157. Both had been winners by major decision on Thursday in a 37-8 win at Minot State.
