Jackson County Central’s boys basketball team is headed to the state tournament for the fourth time in school history following a 67-52 win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 67-52 in the Section 3AA championship game Thursday night in Marshall.
Previous trips were in 2016, 2017 and 2020.
Four players scored in double figures for the Huskies, led by Roman Voss with 23 points. Weston Rowe scored 12 points, while Ben Gallagher and Grant Freking each scored 10.
JCC is 21-7 on the season and will play in the Class 2A quarterfinals Wednesday at 6 or 8 p.m. at either Williams Arena or Target Center. Pairings will be determined Saturday after the completion of all of the section tournaments.
Two other state berths were decided Thursday as Lake City won Section 1AA and Waseca won Section 2AA to give the Big South Conference teams in the 2A field. The Huskies and Bluejays split during the regular season.
The other five section championship games are tonight (Friday).
A third BSC team played for a spot in the state tournament Thursday as New Ulm lost to Mankato East 67-47 in Section 2AAA.
