Jackson County Central advanced to the championship game of the Section 3AA football playoffs Saturday with a 36-14 semifinal win over Le Sueur-Henderson at Swearingen Field.
The top-seeded Huskies, 9-0, will play second-seeded Pipestone (7-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at Trojan Field in Worthington. The Arrows beat Redwood Valley 23-14 on Saturday.
Ben Dahlin had two rushing touchdowns for JCC, scoring on runs of 45 and 42 yards.
Roman Voss scored on a 14-yard run, Clay Malchow went in from 25 yards out and Ben Gallagher caught a 19-yard TD pass from Evan Bartholomaus.
Jackson County Central and Pipestone will be meeting for the second time in three games. The Huskies won 45-6 in the regular season finale in Jackson on Oct. 16.
In college volleyball Saturday, JCC graduate Sadie Voss had a monster match for the University of Sioux Falls as she had 20 kills, 24 digs, and two service aces in the Cougars’ 3-2 loss at No. 7 Wayne State.
Another Jackson County Central grad, Alaina Wolff recorded 10 digs, two service aces and one set assist for South Dakota in a 3-1 win at Kansas City.
Also, JCC graduate Alicia Brandt had seven kills for Waldorf in a 3-2 loss at Dordt.
At the NSIC cross country meet in Minot, Jackson County Central grad Andrdw Boyum placed 86th out of 133 runners in the men’s race with an 8K personal record of 26:24.1.
In the women’s race, Fairmont graduate Laura Thompson placed 31st out of 144 runners with a 6K time of 22:18.1 for team champion Augustana.
