
Jackson County Central won by a shutout on the road while Martin County West lost by shutout at home in high school football Thursday night.
In Luverne, Class 2A fourth-ranked JCC recorded its third shutout of the season as the Huskies defeated Luverne 38-0 in a matchup of teams that entered the game with 6-0 records.
Clay Malchow and Roman Voss each scored two touchdowns for Jackson County Central. Malchow scored on runs of 15 and 14 yards, while Voss caught a 43-yard pass from Evan Bartholomaus and also ran one in from eight yards out.
Aiven Farmer caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Voss and Gage Johnson scored from one yard out for the other Huskies touchdowns.
JCC, now 7-0, hosts Pipestone next Wednesday. The Arrows are 5-1 heading into a Friday home game vs. Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial.
In Sherburn, Class 1A second-ranked Springfield was a 35-0 winner over Martin County West.
Berent Kosbab led the Mavericks in rushing with 32 yards on four carries. Lucas Larson caught four passes for 28 yards. MCW had three players with six tackles apiece.
The Mavericks (3-4) are at St. James Area Wednesday. The Saints (1-5) play at Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Friday.
Also Thursday, the Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin cross country teams competed in Lake Crystal. Neither had a complete team.
Evelyn Christenson led the girls as she placed fifth out of 34 runners with a 5K time of 22:37.73. For the boys, Brody Cook was 36th of 68 runners in 21:33.57.
