The Jackson County Central volleyball team opened play in the Section 3AA South Sub-Section tournament with a 3-1 win over Fairmont Friday night. Set scores were 25-18, 25-14, 25-27, 25-23.
The second-seeded Huskies, 13-16, will host third-seeded Windom (18-10) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Eagles beat St, James Area 3-0 on Friday.
Tuesday’s other semifinal has fifth-seeded Luverne (7-22) at top-seeded Redwood Valley (22-6), 7 p.m. The winners meet in the championship match at a site to be determined on Thursday.
In the North Sub-Section semifinals Tuesday, Litchfield (8-19) is at New London-Spicer (15-7) and Eden Valley-Watkins (8-16) plays at Paynesville (15-9),

Paplow is scoring runner
JCC graduate Evan Paplow, a freshman at Iowa Central Community College, was a scoring runner for the Tritons at the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference meet in Ottumwa, Iowa on Friday.
Paplow was fifth for ICCC and 18th overall out of 38 runners with an 8K time of 26:25.80. Iowa Western was first with 18 points and Iowa Central was second with 43.
Saturday
Section high school football semifinal games will be played Saturday. Jackson County Central will host Le Sueur-Henderson in Section 3AA.
In college cross country Saturday, the NSIC Championships will be held in Minot. The start times for the meet were moved to later in the morning due to expected frost in the Minot area.
Jackson County Central grad Andrew Boyum will run for the Concordia University men and Fairmont graduate Laura Thompson will compete for the Augustana women.
