Jackson County Central’s basketball teams split with Marshall Friday night as the boys were 91-57 winners at home and the girls lost on the road 77-42.
Roman Voss led the Huskies in scoring in the boys game with 26 points, with Weston Rowe scoring 18 and Ben Gallagher 13. Up next for the boys is an important sub-section seeding game at home vs. Redwood Valley Tuesday.
Rylie Cother led JCC’s girls in scoring with 19 points. They’re right back at it Saturday afternoon, hosting Caledonia at 4 p.m.
JCC had two girls competing in the Section 1&3 wrestling tournament in Redwood Falls.
JCC's Izzy Moonen (118 pounds) will be in the wrestlebacks to start Saturday. She can still earn a spot in the state tourney. Aubrey Carnesi (106) was eliminated.
Martin County's Kate Kolbe (142) will also be in the wrestlebacks.
Worthington topped Martin County Area 141.525-135.95 in the Big South Conference gymnastics championship dual Friday in Worthington.
MCA's Hannah Cole was second on vault (9.375), 2nd on bars (8.425), 2nd on beam (9.1) and 2nd on all around (35.9).
Jackson County Central graduate Pat Garvin’s Bethany Lutheran College men’s basketball team clinched its second straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference title Friday night with a 77-70 win over University of Northwestern in St. Paul.

The Vikings are 19-3 overall and 11-0 in the UMAC. They have a four-game lead in the conference standings with three games to play, starting Saturday with a game at North Central University.
JCC grad Hailey Handevidt is an assistant coach at Harrisburg, which placed second in the South Dakota Class AA (large school) gymnastics meet today in Pierre with a 149.995 total. Mitchell was first with 151.444.
Sherburn native Carsen Musser took the loss in goal Friday night for the Madison Capitols in a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Steel in the United States Hockey League. He's now 9-6-2-2.
