Both Martin County West entries competing in the state Class A boys golf tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker earned all-state honors.
Junior Hunter Schmidt finished in a tie for third place in the field of 86 golfers with a 36-hole total of 143. Senior Mitchell Weber was part of a five-way for 15th with a 156 total.
Schmidt claimed an all-state spot for the second straight year. He placed fourth last year with a 149. His score this year was six shots better than last year.
Schmidt carded a one-under par 71 Wednesday after a first-round even-par 72 on Tuesday. He had an eagle on the par-5 second hole in addition to three birdies and 10 pars.
Weber had a second-round 74 after shooting 82 in the opening round. He had two birdies and 13 pars on Wednesday.
New Life Academy senior Cole Witherow won his second straight Class A title with a two-day total of 139 on rounds of 69 and 70.
Jake Fishnaugher of Fillmore Central was second (68-73 – 141) and Lakeview’s Carson Boe shared third place with Schmidt (71-72 – 143).
In the Class AA girls state meet at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Fairmont senior Anika Haugen tied for 21st place. She went 85-80 – 165.
Lakeview won the Class A boys team title, with Lac qui Parle Valley winning the girls.
