MCW’s Anderson, Carlson are honored

Martin County West has two players listed on the Class 1A all-state team selected by the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Senior shortstop Emily Anderson was named to the first team, while sophomore pitcher Maddie Carlson is an honorable mention selection.

MCW had a 22-5 record and finished second in the Section 2A tournament to eventual state champion United South Central.

There were six players from the Tomahawk Valley Conference listed on the 1A all-state team including another first team player, catcher Jaylin Hartness of New Ulm Cathedral.

There were three players from Sleepy Eye named as pitcher Taylor Berkner and shortstop Paige Haala are second-team choices and center fielder Callie Evers is honorable mention.

Also, Nicollet pitcher Leah Bode was named an honorable mention pick.
