Three Huskies are honored by coaches

JCC senior Lauren Johnson was a second-team all-state choice by the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Three members of the Jackson County Central softball team have been recognized on the Class 2A all-state team by the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Senior Lauren Johnson is on the second team, while sophomore Mady Wachal and eighth grader Kinley VanDeVere were honorable mention selections.

The Huskies had a 23-6 record and placed fourth in the state Class 2A tournament.

Of the 14 players named first-team all-state, six are from the North Sub-Section of Section 3AA.

Minnewaska Area (9-13) had three players named first team all-state, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (21-4) had two and Dassel-Cokato (17-7) one.

The Big South Conference had a total of six players on the all-state squad in Class 2A.

Avery Lerfald (Tri-City United) and Rachel Johnson (Belle Plaine) were first-team choices, while Kaysa Douty (Pipestone) and Ella Reisdorfer (Luverne) were named to the second team.

Four Big South players were honored in Class 3A.

New Ulm had three players recognized as Kenzie Enter and Ramsey Hopp are first-team choices and Maddie Backer was an honorable mention selection. Hannah McNabb (Worthington) was also named honorable mention.
