Fourth-seeded Jackson County Central will play fifth-seeded Annandale in the quarterfinals of the state Class 2A volleyball tournament at 9 a.m. Thursday at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Huskies are the champions of Section 3AA and have a match record of 27-6 and a set record of 73-23.
The Cardinals won Section 5AA and are 25-4 and 68-16.
JCC is making its third trip to the state tourney in school history. The Huskies won the state title in their two previous trips, winning the Class 2A title under coach Carolyn Hummel in 1999 and 2003.
Annandale is making its second straight and second overall appearance in the state tournament, having qualified in 2019. There was no state tournament last year.
Win or lose, Jackson County Central will play again at 9 a.m. Friday vs. either top-seeded Southwest Christian (29-3) or Mounds Park Academy (26-4).
On the other side of the 2A bracket at 11 a.m., second-seeded Cannon Falls (27-5) plays Hawley (27-5) and third-seeded Sauk Centre (30-1) meets Greenway (22-6). Those teams also play at 11 a.m. Friday.
The championship, third-place and consolation championship matches are Saturday.
