Brandon Williamson made another strong showing Sunday as he continues his rehab assignment and bids for a spot on the major league roster of the Cincinnati Reds.
The Martin County West graduate made his third start of the season for the Triple-A Louisville Bats and his second vs. the Iowa Cubs in six days. He also started the first game of the six-game series last Tuesday.
Williamson also made a start for the High-A Dayton Dragons.
This time he pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit, not walking a batter and striking out two. He retired the first nine hitters he faced.
For the day, the left-hander threw 49 pitches, 32 for strikes.
It’s the third time in his four appearances that Williamson has not allowed a run.
With Louisville, Williamson has a 0.66 ERA and 0.73 WHIP.
Williamson's rehab assignment will be up soon. Cincinnati can either recall Williamson up to the big leagues or option him to the minors.
He pitched in 23 games for the Reds as a rookie in 2023, posting a 4.46 earned run average with 98 strikeouts in 117 innings pitched.
