Tyler Tennyson has collected another postseason honor.
The Fairmont High School graduate Tyler Tennyson, a senior with the Buena Vista University baseball team, has been named as a third-team selection as a pitcher on the NCAA Division III all-Central Region team.
Tennyson had an 8-2 record in 11 starts for the Beavers that included wins over top-ranked Washington University as well as No. 14 Coe College in the ARC Tournament.
During conference play, the righthander finished fifth among all pitchers with a 2.21 earned-run average and was third in innings pitched with 53.
He finished the regular season by throwing 15 straight scoreless innings and allowed just five total runs over his last three conference starts.
League opponents hit just .222 off of him as he struck out 39 batters and walked only nine. He threw five complete games, including back-to-back shutouts against Central and Nebraska Wesleyan where he combined to strike out 12 and walk only two.
Buena Vista was 15-17 during conference play before going 2-2 in the conference tournament and was one win away from moving into the championship game.
