Pat Garvin has been named a Co-Athletic Director at Bethany Lutheran College. The Jackson County Central graduate will continue to serve the Vikings’ head men's basketball coach.
BLC has modified its administrative structure after longtime Athletic Director Don Westphal resigned in July to take on a new role directing the Bethany Fund within the College's Advancement Department.
Garvin and Bethany's current Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Facilities Ryan Kragh will co-direct the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Department. Kragh is also the head baseball coach.
Garvin, who has been Bethany’s head men’s basketball coach for two seasons, will work in the area of facilities management for the Department and will take on other assigned responsibilities.
He has experience in athletic administration, having served as the Director of Compliance at Benedictine University in Mesa, Ariz., from 2015-17.
The school is searching for a permanent athletic director.
Bethany Lutheran had a 14-12 record last season after going 6-4 in a shortened schedule of conference-only games in his first season.
The Vikings open the 2022-23 season in Milwaukee Nov. 11-12 with games vs. Milwaukee School of Engineering and Wisconsin Lutheran College.
BLC’s first game in Mankato will be an exhibition game at Minnesota State University on Nov. 26. Garvin was an assistant coach at MSU for three seasons, including an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2018.
The home opener for the Vikings is Nov. 30 vs. Simpson College.
