A second Big Ten Conference football program made a scholarship offer to Jackson County Central sophomore Roman Voss this week.
On Tuesday, Badgers’ assistant coach Matt Mitchell was in Jackson to provide the offer.
Voss shared the news on social media:
"It was awesome," Voss told Badger247.com. "It didn't even feel real for the first few minutes."
Voss is listed as an athlete, meaning schools are looking at him as being able to play multiple positions. He’s been the Huskies’ starting quarterback for three seasons and also played at receiver on offense, catching five touchdown passes.
He plays safety on defense.
Voss made an unofficial visit to Madison in April.
Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck made an offer to Voss via phone earlier this month.
At least two other Big Ten schools have expressed interest in the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Voss, who is listed as the No. 6 overall recruit in the state for players in the Class of 2026 by prepredzone.com.
Michigan State Defensive Quality Control coach Chris Gordon made a camp invite and Northwestern sent Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach Zach Lujan and Defensive Assistant D.J. Vokolek to visit JCC.
Also stopping by recently have been two-time defending FCS national champion South Dakota State, North Dakota State and Northern Illinois. In the fall of 2023, he made a gameday visit to Iowa State.
Also in that class, Weston Rowe is eighth among offensive linemen and 17th overall.
