Heron Lake native Hobie Hedquist was the winning goaltender Wednesday as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs were 5-3 winners over the Victoria Grizzlies in a British Columbia Hockey League game at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Hedquist made 22 saves as he improved his record to 6-3-2-0.
Also, it has been announced that Hedquist is on the ballot to fill a out the remaining roster spots for the Jan. 15 outdoor 3-on-3 All-Star tournament in Penticton, B.C.
There will be two goalies and 12 skaters from each of the BCHL’s nine-team conferences selected for the game.
The Bulldogs are fourth in the Coastal Division with a 9-6-2-0 record heading into a Friday night game at the Victoria Grizzlies.
Hedquist leads the BCHL in shutouts (3), is tied for sixth in wins (6), is sixth in save percentage (.913) and is eighth in goals-against average (2.57).
He has committed to attend the University of North Dakota and play for the Fighting Hawks.
Voting ends at 9:59 p.m. Central time on Tuesday. Nov. 30. Results will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
