Conner Tordsen, a junior with the Dakota State men's track and field team, has been selected as Field Athlete of the Week in the North Star Athletic Association.
Tordsen broke his own school record in the hammer throw for the third straight meet at the USD Tune-Up Friday at Vermillion with a distance of 185 feet, 5 inches to place eighth at the event.
He hitting the NAIA 'A' automatic standard mark and was the top NAIA hammer throw in the event. Tordsen currently is 12th in the NAIA hammer throw after last weekend's meets.
At USD, he also placed 11th in discus (148-9) and 20th in shot put (43-7).
Tordsen currently leads the NSAA in the hammer throw, is second in the discus throw, and seventh in the shot put for the Trojans.
Dakota State will compete in the North Star Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday and Friday in Forest City.
An exercise science major at DSU, Conner is the son of Jamie and April Tordsen.
