Former Jackson High School softball coach Mike Bosch is returning to the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Bosch has joined the staff at North Carolina State as an assistant coach. He previously coached in the ACC at Syracuse, serving as pitching coach for one season and as head coach of the Orange for three.
He had spent five seasons at Florida, leaving the Gators at the of the 2023 season.
Wolfpack coach Lindsay Leftwich is excited at the prospect of having Bosch join her staff. Leftwich was named head coach at NC State in early June after 12 years as an assistant at LSU.
"Mike is an incredible find for the Wolfpack,” Leftwich said. “As a decorated SEC assistant and experienced former head coach, Mike's path to NC State will help push the program forward quickly.
“Mike brings a wealth of knowledge that he tactfully applies to all aspects of the game. His ability to understand data, analytics and biomechanics is unmatched, but he sets himself apart by how he conveys those ideas to the players. He is truly the professor of player development. His relational qualities as a husband and father can easily be seen in how the players respond and grow under his coaching. He has amassed a ton of connections in the travel ball and high school community and will continue to recognize talent at an elite level. I am honored to add Mike to my family.”
He will work with the Wolfpack defense in addition to handling data and player development.
Prior to his time in Gainesville, he spent four seasons at Syracuse, one as pitching coach and three as head coach.
Bosch also spent 13 years as head coach at Iowa Lakes Community College, leading the Lakers to two national tournaments, placing fifth in 2008 and third in 2010.
He began his coaching career at Wabasso High School, coaching the Rabbits to two state tourney appearances and was named Region 3A Coach of the Year twice.
The 1993 Jackson Blue Jays placed fourth in the state Class A tournament and Bosch received his third Region 3A Coach of the Year award in as many seasons. He coached Jackson in 1994 as well. He resigned prior to the 1995 season.
He was also head boys basketball coach at JHS.
