Brandon Williamson made his first start in almost three weeks Friday night for the Louisville Bats in an International League West game vs. the St. Paul Saints at CHS Field in St. Paul.
The Martin County West graduate has been on paternity leave and hasn't pitched since leaving a game in the fourth inning at Toledo on Aug. 28.
Williamson went two innings Friday for the Bats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, in St. Paul. He allowed two runs on two hits, walked four and struck out two. He threw 47 pitches, 27 for strikes.
The Saints, an affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, won 7-6 in 10 innings. Louisville is now 56-83.
It was Williamson’s 11th start for Louisville. He has a 1-4 record with a 4.5 earned run average.
In 48 innings he has allowed 26 runs (24 earned) on 48 hits, walking 32, hitting four and striking out 40.
Combined with his time with Double-A Chattanooga, Williamson has a 6-6 record with a 4.29 ERA. He’s pitched 115.1 innings, allowing 57 runs (55 earned) on 109 hits, walking 72, hitting nine and striking out 114.
