Joe Skow, a 2008 Jackson County Central graduate, will be joining the coaching staff of the Simpson College wrestling team for a second time.
Skow was a graduate assistant coach with the Storm before transitioning to an assistant coach from 2014-17.
"I'm excited to have Joe join our staff once again," head coach Dylan Peters said. "I look forward to seeing the progression of our upper weights under his guidance. He has already made a significant impact on our program and with him serving in a larger capacity now, will really help us."
Skow recorded 88 career varsity wins with the Huskies, including 32 as a senior when he qualified for the state tournament at 215 pounds and helped JCC win the Class 1A team title.
He attended the University of Sioux Falls, where he was a two-time NAIA national qualifier. Skow was the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship heavyweight champion in 2010. In his two short seasons with the Cougars, Skow compiled 45 career wins, including a school-record 28 in 2010-11.
Skow transferred to NCAA Division I South Dakota State, where he was a two-year starter for the Jackrabbits, earning all-Western Wrestling Conference Academic first-team honors.
Skow graduated from SDSU with a degree in sociology and minor in criminal justice in 2013 before earning his master's degree in criminal justice from Simpson in 2016. He recently obtained a bachelor's degree in management information systems from Simpson in 2021. He lives in Indianola with his wife, Haylee.
