Jackson County Central has moved up one place to fourth in the latest Class 2A boys basketball rankings by Minnesota Basketball News, a statewide basketball publication. The Huskies are 6-0.
They travel to Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall for two games next week as they play Class 2A No. 10 Montevideo (7-0) on Dec. 30 and Marshall (5-1) on Dec. 31. The lone loss for the Tigers was to Class 3A No. 4 Mankato East (4-1). The Cougars loss was to Class 4A No. 2 Hopkins (6-0).
Waseca (8-0) of the Big South Conference remains third in Class 2A. Albany (6-0) is again first in 2A.
In fact, all four leaders are the same in the boys ratings, Cherry (9-0) in Class 1A, Benilde-St. Margaret’s (6-0) in Class 3A and Cretin-Derham Hall (6-0) in Class 4A.
In the girls ratings, Marshall (9-0) moved up one spot into first in Class 3A. Jackson County Central (3-5) is the next opponent for the Tigers at 7 p.m. Friday at SMSU.
There’s also a new girls leader in Class 4A as Maple Grove (7-1) takes over the top spot. Goodhue (6-2) is again first in Class 1A and Providence Academy (9-0) is the leader in Class 2A.
