Two of the top four rated Class 2A boys basketball teams in the state are scheduled to meet on Saturday afternoon in Jackson.
Jackson County Central remains fourth in the latest rankings by Minnesota Basketball News, a statewide basketball publication. Waseca is again second.
Each team plays one game before then.
The Bluejays, 20-0, face Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman (9-10) Thursday in Truman. The Huskies (18-2) host Redwood Valley (15-7) Friday.
JCC and Waseca will tip off at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Albany (17-0) remains first in the 2A poll and Caledonia (19-2) is sandwiched between the Huskies and Bluejays in the third spot in the ratings.
All four leaders are the same for the boys ratings as in addition to Albany in 2A, Cherry (20-0) is on top in Class 1A, Benilde-St. Margaret’s (16-1) first in Class 3A and Cretin-Derham Hall (18-0) leads Class 4A.
There’s one new leader in the girls rankings. Previous Class 3A No. 1 Marshall lost for the first time this season Saturday, 59-56 to then No. 5 Orono in a game played in Delano.
Monticello (20-0) is the new leader in 3A, followed by Orono (19-2) and Marshall (21-1).
The others remain the same with Goodhue (17-4) leading Class 1A, Providence Academy (21-0) on top in Class 2A and Maple Grove (18-2) sits atop Class 4A.
