MINNEAPOLIS – No matter what the outcomes were, it was going to be a memorable experience for both the Jackson County Central girls and boys basketball teams when they played at Target Center Saturday.
The fact that they were both able to come home with wins just made the day a little more special.
The Huskies won the girls game 75-73 and then won the boys contest 68-50.
Sadie Voss made two free throws with no time remaining for the JCC girls in their win.
The Lakers had tied the game at 73-73 and the Huskies took a time out with 2.8 seconds to go.
Maci Farmer threw the inbound pass to Rylie Cother at the top of the top of the key. Cother’s shot was not good, but Voss got the rebound and was fouled on the putback with all zeroes on the time clock.
Voss’ first free throw hit the back rim, rolled around, and went in to secure the win. She added the second free throw as well for the 75-73 final.
Farmer led Jackson County Central in scoring with 20 points, with Cother scoring 19 and Voss 17. Voss also had seven rebounds and five assists.
Kylee Wenzel grabbed 11 rebounds and Georgianna Wenzel eight.
The Huskies are 11-6, while the Lakers are 9-8.
