STILLWATER, Okla. – Jackson County Central graduate Keegan Moore returned to the place he started his college wrestling career and came away with a big win for Oklahoma in its Bedlam dual vs. Oklahoma State Sunday.
Moore wrestled former teammate and eighth-ranked Dakota Geer and was in control of his 184-pound match from start to finish.
He recorded two takedowns in each of the first and second periods on his way to a 9-4 win in his return to Gallagher-Iba Arena and the Oklahoma Twitter account posted the news:
Moore, who transferred to OU from Northern Iowa, started his collegiate career at Oklahoma State.
“He has a workmanship mentality," Sooners coach Lou Rosselli about Moore. "He's talented and he's a believer and he's been dying for an opportunity to be in the lineup where he can make a difference. Today, he showed up and did what he was supposed to do. Sometimes we can't control everything that happens in a match, but the amount of effort can always be controlled."
Moore’s win gave the Sooners a 9-7 lead in the dual, which started at 149 pounds although the No. 12 Cowboys would edge No. 24 Oklahoma 18-16.
The Sooners finish their dual season with an 8-6 record, 3-5 in the conference. Oklahoma will be out to defend its Big 12 title at the conference tournament March 5-6 in Tulsa.
