Brandon Williamson makes his Major League debut tonight when the Cincinnati Reds face the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver. Game time is 7:40 p.m. Minnesota time.
Williamson was recalled from Triple-A Louisville earlier today. He’s the fourth Reds player to make his Major League debut and the second in as many nights. Infielder Matt McClain was also brought up from Louisville and made his debut in Monday’s 9-8 Colorado win.
Williamson started the season as Baseball America’s 10th-best prospect in the organization.
In eight games at Louisville this season, he had a 2-4 record with a 6.62 earned run average. In 34 innings Williamson allowed 29 runs (25 earned) on 44 hits, walking 20, hitting two and striking out 27.
He graduated from Martin County West High School in 2016 and played two years at NIACC and two at TCU.
Chase Anderson, who does not have a decision in two appearances this season, starts for the Rockies. He has one save.
Cincinnati has an 18-23 record and is fourth in the National League Central, five games behind the Milwaukee Brewers. Colorado is 18-24 and fifth in the West, nine back of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
