Jackson County Central graduate Molly Boyum, a sophomore at Augustana, placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a PR of 1:07.81 Saturday at the NSIC & Friends Outdoor Challenge in Mankato.
She also ran the first leg of the Vikings' 4x400 team that placed third.
JCC grad Jordan Hassing, a freshman at Augustana, was 15th in the long jump (20-3 1/2) and 15th in the 100 meters (11.77) in Mankato.
Fairmont graduate Wyatt Quiring, a junior at Gustavus, placed fourth in the 200 meters (21.92, which ranks first in the MIAC) and sixth in the 400 meters (49.66) at Saturday's meet in Mankato. He also ran on the Gusties' 4x100 team that placed first (41.6, 9th in NCAA Division III).
Fairmont graduate Allison Lardy, a junior at North Dakota, placed second in the shot put (46-8 1/4) at the Ron Masanz Classic in Moorhead Saturday. That's the sixth-best effort in UND history.
Fairmont grad Andrew Moeller, a freshman at South Dakota State, was seventh in the 800 meters (1:57.62) at Moorhead.
Fairmont graduate Connor Tordsen, a junior at Dakota State, won the hammer throw with a school-record effort of 173-5 in Moorhead Saturday. He'd tied the record going 165-2 1/4 in DSU's previous meet. He was also sixth in discus (142-2) and 21st in shot put (40-7 3/4).
MCW grad Cora Olson, a junior at Concordia (Neb.) placed in five events for the team champion Bulldogs at the Great Plains Athletic Conference meet. She was third in the 100 meters (12.15), third in the 200 meters (25.05), fourth in triple jump (36-6 3/4), 6th in long jump (17-10 1/4) and ran on the second-place 4x100 relay team (48.45).
Fairmont graduate Tyler Tennyson, a graduate student at Buena Vista University, was the Position Player of the Week in the American Rivers Conference for his play last week as BVU won two of three from NCAA Division III top-ranked Washington University-St. Louis. He hit .538 (7-13) while posting a slugging percentage of .846.
On Friday, Tennyson was the starting pitcher in the first game of a doubleheader for BVU at Dubuque. He was not involved in the decision, going six inning in the Beavers' 10-7 win in 10 innings.
JCC grad Easton Bahr had two hits, walked and had an RBI in the opener. Buena Vista won both games Friday and the teams then split on Sunday.
Derek Shoen of Truman, a sophomore at the University of Mary, had two hits including his sixth home run of the season and was hit by a pitch in the second game of a doubleheader vs. Southwest Minnesota Saturday in Marshall. He had a sacrifice fly in the first game. Mary won both games, 7-0 and 18-14.
On Sunday, Shoen hit his seventh homer and also doubled and three RBI in Mary's 6-5 loss to the Mustangs.
No. 11 Minnesota State swept a three-game NSIC baseball series from Concordia (St. Paul).
Fairmont graduate Jack Waletich had three hits including two doubles and had two RBI in the first game of the series for MSU. He had a two-run single in the final game.
JCC grad Ryan Christopher had one hit in each game for Concordia. He also had a stolen base in the series finale.
Fairmont graduate Spencer Chirpich, a senior at Abilene Christian, pitched out of the bullpen for the Wildcats vs. Houston Baptist. He did not get his regular weekend start as the scheduled three-game weekend series was shortened to a Sunday doubleheader by the weather. He got the final two outs of the seventh and then pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Fairmont graduate Lexi Kaufman scored her first career goal for the Bethany Lutheran College women's soccer team in a 2-1 win over Crown Friday. Two other Fairmont grads, Mikayla Stradtman and Sadie Sandersfeld, also start for the Vikings (3-4).
Hanna Geistfeld of Truman, a senior with the Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team, was named second-team all-American by D3hoops.com. She averaged a double-double of 25.0 points and 10 rebounds as the Vikings won the UMAC regular season and tournament titles.
