There was a little extra going on at Wacker Field Sunday when the Jackson Bulls hosted Adrian in its regular-season finale.
Maybe that hoopla didn't allow the Bulls to get focused at the start of the game. But once Jackson did, it was all Bulls as they won 21-3 in a game shortened to seven innings by the 10-run rule.
"It was a good day for the Bulls," said manager Scott Bahr. "We had NextEra Energy here as a sponsor, they presented a check and threw out a first pitch and that was a lot of fun; Renae sang the national anthem, which was great; we had concessions and announcing and face painting, it was just a great day to be around the ballpark.
"The game didn't start out like we wanted it. We made a couple of mistakes early and got down but obviously we did better after that. I don't think Adrian made a ton of errors. It was us hitting the baseball. We hit it all over the park so that was exciting. Maybe we're playing good at the right time. I hope that carries over into next week."
After the A's scored three runs in the top of the first, Jackson scored two in the bottom of the first and then added one in the second, 12 in the third and six in the fifth.
Eight Bulls had multiple-hit games, led by Chris Gumto, who had four hits.
Evan Olesen had three hits and walked once, while Shad Wacker and Briar Rowley each had three hits.
Easton Bahr and Blaise Jacobsen each had two hits and one walk, while Nate Monson and Zach Neal each had two hits.
Ben Scheevel pitched the first four innings for Jackson, with Kevin Holm, Pat Boggess and Sean Minder each pitching one inning.
Jackson finished as the No. 2 seed from the First Nite League and play Gopher League No. 7 seed Tracy in a best-of-three series starting at 7:30 Wednesday at Wacker Field.
Game Two is at Tracy at 2 p.m. Saturday and if Game Three is necessary, it would be played in Jackson at 2 p.m. Sunday.
