
Jackson was a 7-1 winner over Windom in Game 1 of their best-of-three Region 13C amateur baseball playoff series Wednesday night at Wacker Field.
Evan Olesen went the distance on the mound for the Bulls, allowing one unearned run on three hits, striking out four.
Blake Evans had three hits including a double, was hit by a pitch and had three runs batted in for Jackson.
Andy Wolf had two hits and walked twice, Easton Bahr had two hits and walked once and Shad Wacker also had two hits.
Game 2 is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Field at the Windom Rec Area. If Game 3 is necessary it would be played at 1 p.m. Sunday in Jackson.
The series winner will advance to the state tournament as the region’s No. 3 seed.
In the championship series Wednesday, Luverne edged Fairmont 6-5 on Casey Sehr’s hit in the bottom of the ninth. Game 2 in that series is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont. The Redbirds and Martins are both guaranteed spots in the state tourney.
