
Sherburn native Carsen Musser is one of 32 players participating in Utah Hockey Club’s Development Camp. Musser is one of five goaltenders on the roster.
The camp started Monday at Park City Ice Arena in Park City Ice Arena in Park City, Utah and will conclude Friday with a scrimmage at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, where Utah Hockey Club will play its home games.
Musser, who will be a freshman at Colorado College this fall, was a sixth-round pick (166th overall) of the-then Arizona Coyotes in 2023. The NHL approved the Coyotes’ franchise moving to Utah for the 2024-25 season.
The team will play with a temporary name and colors this season, while a full identity is developed in time for 2025–26.
At the end of the month, Musser will be among 46 players participating in the World Junior Summer Showcase at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. That event will be held July 26-Aug. 3.
The Showcase, which also includes players from Canada, Finland and Sweden, serves as an evaluation for athletes seeking to make their respective national teams for the 2025 IIHF U&nder 20 World Junior Championship. That tournament is Dec. 26, 2024 through Jan. 5, 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario.
Musser was a member of the U.S. National Developmental U17 and U18 teams, based in Plymouth, Mich.
He compiled a 2-0 record with a 0.75 goals against average and .947 save percentage in two games for the gold-medal winning Team USA at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Switzerland.
Musser spent last season with the Madison Capitols of the United Statets Hockey League last season.
He posted a 17-11-2 record with the Capitols. Musser finished the regular season second in the USHL with a .905 save percentage and fourth with a 2.74 goals-against average.
