The Jackson County Central volleyball team will play at home for the next-to-last time during the regular season Thursday when it hosts Luverne in a Big South Conference West Division matchup. B- and C-squad matches are at 6 p.m., with the varsity at about 7:15.
JCC has won two straight with sweeps over Pipestone last Thursday and St. James Area on Monday to improve to 7-12 overall, 1-3 in conference play.
In the match vs. the Saints, Emma Haren had 22 kills and 11 digs while going 6-for-7 serving with one ace.
Hannah Hash recorded seven kills and was 6-8 serving with one ace; Kylee Wenzel had six kills and one block; Lauren Johnson posted seven digs and was 13-15 serving with an ace; Megan Benson has six digs, was 17-17 serving with six ace serves; Madelyn Rowe had two kills and three digs; and Sawyer Flatgard had one kill and one block.
Bailey Finck had 19 set assists, 10 digs, two kills and was 7-9 serving with one ace; and Elese Paplow had 14 set assists, 10 digs, three kills and was 14-15 serving with three aces.
The Cardinals lost to Edgerton on Monday to have a three-match winning streak stopped and are 9-11 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
In the last 10 seasons (2013-2022) the teams have met 17 times, with JCC leading the series in that time 13-4. Three of those Luverne wins came in 2017, as the teams played during the JCC tournament, a conference match and then in the Section 3AA South Sub-Section finals.
JCC is then on the road on four days next week.
The Huskies are at Martin County West Monday and Worthington Tuesday to start the week and are then at the Todd Bachman Invitational at Lakeville North on Oct. 13-14.
The regular season concludes with a home match vs. Fairmont on Monday, Oct. 16.
