LUVERNE – Undefeated Luverne swept a Big South Conference Small School Division doubleheader from Jackson County Central Tuesday. The Cardinals 7-6 walk-off winners in the opener before winning the nightcap 16-6 in five innings.
Luverne is 10-0 overall, 8-0 in the conference, while the Huskies are 4-6 and 3-4.
In the first game, JCC tied the game in the top of the seventh, but the Cardinals would win it in the home half of the frame.
Alexis O’Reilly had three hits, three runs batted in and scored two runs. Hadley Wachal also had three hits. Carson Schneekloth had two.
Hadley Wachal went the distance in the pitcher’s circle in taking the loss, allowing four earned runs and four hits.
Brittany Arduser and O’Reilly each had two hits in the second game. Bailey Finck had two runs batted in.
Maia Reed was the starting pitcher in the second game. Mady Wachal came on in relief in the fourth inning.
Jackson County Central is on the road again Thursday, playing two at Pipestone.
