
Martin County West will play New Ulm Cathedral in the first-ever Tomahawk Valley Conference softball championship game at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at Caswell Park in North Mankato. Both teams currently have a record of 13-2.
The Mavericks wrapped up the Valley Division side Thursday with a 10-9 win at Nicollet. The win was the seventh in a row for MCW.
The Class 1A seventh-ranked Greyhounds have clinched the top spot in the Tomahawk Division with two games to play. Cathedral has one loss in the division, while Sleepy Eye and Wabasso each have three losses, but the Greyhounds own tiebreakers vs. the Indians and Rabbits.
Cathedral is on a 13-game winning streak. The Greyhounds started 0-2 with losses to Cleveland and Wabasso, both by a 3-2 score, but have not lost since.
Prior to playing for the conference title, MCW plays three games in Walnut Grove Saturday and hosts Sleepy Eye on Tuesday.
NUC plays at a tournament in Windom Saturday and has a doubleheader at Springfield Monday.

The Mavericks open the day at 9:30 a.m. vs. Yellow Medicine East (8-5).
MCW also faces Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove (3-10) at 11:15 a.m. and Lakeview (5-9) at 2:45 p.m.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, Martin County West plays its final regular-season home game vs. Sleepy Eye. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
The Indians are 12-4 and have games vs. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop and Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Monday before visiting Welcome.
