Softball Huskies can wrap up title at Fairmont

Jackson County Central has an opportunity to claim sole possession of the Big South Conference Small School Division softball title with a win at Fairmont on Tuesday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

The Huskies have a 12-1 record in the conference, while the Cardinals are 10-2. Tuesday is JCC’s final conference game, while Fairmont has another league contest Friday at Windom.

Class 2A No. 9 Jackson County Central is 16-2 overall after winning three games at its own tournament on Saturday. Fairmont is 12-6 and lost twice at Windom Saturday, falling 3-0 to Class 1A No. 7 New Ulm Cathedral and 9-7 to Minneota/Canby.

JCC beat Fairmont 4-1 in Jackson on April 21.

The Huskies then close out their regular-season schedule at home Thursday with a 5 p.m. game vs. Class 1A No. 10 Wabasso. That is a change in game time.
