Class 2A basketball

Four sections playing semifinal games Wednesday

Half of the Class 2A boys basketball section tournaments will have semifinal games Wednesday.

Sections 4AA, 6AA, 7AA and 8AA will play its semifinals, with the winners advancing to section championship games on Friday.

Jackson County Central will play in one of three Class 2A section title games on Thursday as the Huskies play Montevideo for the Section 3AA game at 5 p.m. at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Other championship games Thursday are in Section 1AA and 2AA.

In the Section 1AA title game at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, No. 1 seed Caledonia (27-2) plays No. 3 Lake City (19-9). Those teams have not played this season.

Two Big South Conference teams will play for the 2AA crown as top-seeded Waseca (29-0) faces third-seeded Belle Plaine (20-9) at Minnesota State University. The Bluejays defeated the Tigers 85-56 in Waseca on Dec. 10.
