Several former area wrestlers were in action Friday night in college duals.
Keegan Moore
At Norman, Okla., Jackson County Central graduate Keegan Moore won his match at 197 pounds for the host Sooners in a 37-0 win over Little Rock.
A redshirt senior, Moore recorded an early takedown to take a 2-1 advantage over Ty Lukens. He began the second frame with another takedown, but Lukens reversed before Moore escaped to make it 5-3.
With seconds remaining in the bout, Moore held off a Lukens' shot and secured the takedown plus riding time to finish off an 8-4 decision.
Oklahoma is idle from competition until hosting Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11 in a dual will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
Augustana
Grads from three area schools were in the lineup for NCAA Division II No. 5 Augustana University in a 40-4 to Division I South Dakota State in Brookings.
Martin County West graduate Jaxson Rohman lost his match at 125 pounds and former Windom/Mountain Lake standout Kade Sammons lost at 141.
Another MCW grad, Miles Fitzgerald, won an 11-2 major decision at 157 for the Vikings’ lone win of the dual. Fitzgerald recorded a takedown in the second period and added three more takedowns in the third period. He added a point for riding time, an escape and a penalty points.
Also, Jackson County Central graduate Jacob Tvinnereim lost his match at 174 pounds.
Augustana’s next dual is at No. 11 Minnesota on Thursday, Dec. 1.
