A rally by Jackson came up a run short as the Bulls fell for the first time this season, losing to Luverne 6-5 at Wacker Field Wednesday.
The Redbirds scored three in the top of the first, with Jackson scoring once in the bottom of the opening frame. Luverne added three more in the second for a 6-1 lead. The Bulls would score single runs in the third, fifth, sixth and eighth innings.
Easton Bahr was on base five times for the Bulls as he had four hits including a triple and walked once. Evan Olesen had two hits including a double and Payton Handevidt had a hit and walked.
Zach Neal doubled for the Bulls. Also recording one hit apiece were Shad Wacker, Blaise Jacobsen and Alex Bretzman.
Lucas Gardner started and took the loss on the mound. Pat Boggess, Kevin Holm and Sean Minder also pitched.
Jackson, now 6-1, plays two at home Sunday, facing the Milroy Irish at 2 p.m. and Tracy at 5 p.m.
Suspended again
For the second straight Wednesday, Lakefield had a game suspended due to a power outage.
The Frogs and Fairmont were in the bottom of the seventh inning at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont when the game was halted. The game will be resumed at a later date. Lakefield hosts the Martins on June 23.
Sunday, the Frogs host Tracy at 2 p.m. and the Milroy Irish at 5 p.m. at Stan King Field,
