A Jackson County Central graduate and her college volleyball team will be at the gym where she had outstanding volleyball and basketball careers for the Huskies on Saturday.
Alaina Wolff is a 5-foot-6 freshman libero at Wayne State College.
The Wildcats and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival Concordia-St. Paul will scrimmage at the JCC High School gym.
JCC coach Deidre Wierson said the plan is for the teams to arrive at the school at about 10 a.m., with the scrimmage to start at 11 a.m. The teams are expected to scrimmage for 90 minutes to two hours.
"I think it's really cool to bring in an alumni player and really well known player for our program back," Wierson said. "She did great things here and continues to keep shining through at the college level."
Wierson said it will be a good learning experience for her current team.
"It will be good for us a team to watch to watch her play and see that level of competition," she said. "And any community members that want to come out and watch some really nice volleyball can come out also."
Wayne State was tied for fifth in the NSIC coaches' preseason poll. Concordia was picked first by the coaches for the 16th time in 17 years.
In the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II preseason ratings, the Golden Bears are second and the Wildcats are 24th.
Concordia is coached by Brady Starkey, a three-time AVCA Coach of the Year. His career win percentage is .893 (550-66). Starkey has coached Concordia to nine NCAA Division II championships.
Scott Kneifl is in his 17th season as Wayne's coach. He has a .737 percentage (368-131). The Wildcats have been to the NCAA tournament 11 consecutive seasons.
Wayne State opens its season Sept. 3-4 at the Dallas Baptist tournament.
