Sadie Hotzler of Jackson will compete in three events at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo that starts on Sunday in Perry, Georgia. She is the daughter of Terry and Shelly Hotzler.
She will compete in two go-rounds in each event.
Sadie competes in Breakaway on Sunday afternoon and next Saturday morning; pole bending Monday morning and Friday night; and barrels Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning.
She was the champion in barrel racing at the state rodeo in Pine River last month and was reserve champion in both breakaway roping and pole bending.
Sadie placed 23rd in barrels at last year’s NJHFR and was 56th in poles.
Approximately 1,200 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian provinces, Australia and Mexico participate in the national event. Competitors have an opportunity to win more than $80,000 in prizes and $200,000 in college scholarships.
