Valley Conference leader Cleveland is the next opponent for the Martin County West baseball team as the Mavericks host the Clippers in a 4:30 p.m. game Tuesday at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex in Welcome.
MCW dropped three conference games last week, losing two to Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman on Tuesday and to Madelia on Thursday.
The Clippers enter Tuesday’s matchup with a record of 9-2 overall, 4-0 in conference play. Both of Cleveland’s losses came on the same day, to Sleepy Eye Saint Mary’s and New Ulm Cathedral.
Cleveland has won four straight games since those losses in New Ulm and are scheduled to play Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Monday.
The Clippers won the first meeting with the Mavericks this season 12-1.
MCW then heads to Fairfax on Friday to face Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop. The Thunderbirds (2-6) have three games scheduled this week before hosting the Mavericks.
