MCWBO boys have good day in Sleepy Eye

NOTE: MCW/BO track and field coach Lee Carlson told me that the official results from Monday’s track and field meet in Sleepy Eye were incorrect.

Lucas Larson was the winner of the boys 100 meters, not Lixon Forsberg as the results show.

The Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin boys track and field squad piled up seven first-place finishes at a five-team meet in Sleepy Eye on Monday. The Mavericks were third in the team standings.

Lixon Forsberg won the triple jump (36-6) and ran the lead leg on the 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay teams.

Lucas Larson won the 100 meters (12.15), Bear Kosbab won the 200 meters (22.61), Barret Scholl was first in the shot put (40-11.5) and Kale Larson won high jump (5-4).

Running on the winning 4x100 relay team were Forsberg, Kale Larson, Lucas Larson and Kosbab (45.76) and the first-place 4x200 team was comprised of Forsberg, Lucas Larson, Josh Roben and Kale Larson (1:38.00).

The top finishes for the MCWBO girls were a pair of second-place finishes.

Ava Thate won the high jump (4-8) and the 4x800 team of Inga Olson, Maddison Lyon, Katelynn Kennedy and Evelynn Christenson was second (11:49.23).

The Mavericks will be in Sleepy Eye again on Thursday for the Tomahawk Valley Conference meet.
