Jackson County Central went 3-0 on Saturday to win the Division 6 title at The Clash National Duals in La Crosse. The Huskies had gone 1-2 on Friday.
Class 1A second-ranked JCC started the second day with a 42-19 win over Class 3A No. 11 Apple Valley.
The dual started at 139 pounds with a matchup of state-ranked 145-pound wrestlers. Class 1A No. 1 Nolan Ambrose won a 4-3 decision over 3A No. 3 to give the Huskies the early lead.
The Eagles won the next three matches for a 14-3 advantage.
Jackson County Central then reeled off eight straight wins, with the first four matches in that string ending with a fall. The Huskies had a 42-14 lead before Apple Valley got a win in the final match.
JCC would then win 38-24 over Glenbard North, Ill. and 42-28 over Prairie du Chien, Wis. to win the division.
On Friday, the Huskies lost 36-27 to Liberty, Ariz., defeated Holmen, Wis. 45-30 and fell to Washington, Ill. 42-25.
Two Jackson County Central wrestlers went undefeated for the tournament.
Ryan Haley was 6-0, with five of those wins coming by falls. Ambrose went 5-0 with a fall, a forfeit and a major decision.
Kyler Thier (four falls), Kayden Eller (four falls) and Isaac Rodriguez were all 5-1, Ben Dahlin (two falls and one technical fall) was 4-1 and Dallas Gossen (two falls) was 3-1.
Seth Stai and Braydan Winter were both 3-3.
Class 3A No. 1 St. Michael-Albertville won the tournament, followed by Hastings, Bettendorf, Iowa and Joliet Catholic, Ill.
JCC is scheduled to host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a key matchup between the Section 3A rivals.
Second division title
This is the second time Jackson County Central has gone 3-0 on the second day of The Clash and won a division title.
The Huskies also won Division 6 of Clash V in 2008.
JCC had gone 1-2 on the first day of that tournament with a win over St. Anthony’s, N.Y. sandwiched between losses to Vacaville, Calif. and Kaukauna, Wis.
On the second day of that tournament, the Huskies defeated Valentine, Neb. 55-22, St. Michael-Albertville 33-25 and Owatonna 36-22. Cole VonOhlen (125) and Travis Rutt (160) were named to the all-tournament team.
Jackson County Central went on to win the state Class 1A title that year, the first of four state titles in five years.
